A suggestion for martial art practitioners at all levels, regardless of your style or time involved in studying the art. Have you ever heard the term or phrase “THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND”? Well I have been involved with all manor of styles of the martial art globally since the mid 1950s and to be very honest with you I have witnessed this BLIND LEADING THE BLIND far more often than anyone would ever imagine. The very sad part to this is that most martial art teachers (at whatever level they themselves might be at), are generally VERY WELL MEANING in what they are professing and sharing as THE WAY IT IS.
The martial art as a whole as been around for THOUSANDS OF YEARS and I say this with great sincerity, “NO ONE HAS OR KNOWS IT ALL”, however the majority of martial art professors share their teachings as if THEIR WAY IS THE WAY and that just is not the case. Oh please don’t get me wrong, their teaching might be very comprehensive and accurate as far as they are expressing it, however the vastness of the martial art simply is just too “LIMITLESS” for anyone to express that their way is THE WAY or THE ONLY WAY.
With that said, please do listen and absorb what your mentors are sharing with you, trying diligently to make certain YOU comprehend exactly what it is they are sharing with you, then on your own and at your own pace reexamine what has been shared with you, allowing the material you are learning and reviewing to openly EXPOSE ITSELF to you. If you do this with AN OPEN MIND I promise YOU will find so much, possibly even things that your teacher had over looked or not discovered.
Please do give this a “TRY”, you just might be amazingly delighted at the wealth of insight you might discover on your own. The martial art has a vast wealth of knowledge for everyone regardless of how dedicated the practitioner might be, so check it out for yourself and discover the undiscovered universes that are still waiting to be found BY “YOU”!
